Mitigation Bank Assessments on Galveston Island

DJI_0125.JPG

In 2020, NRS worked with several consultants in the determination of whether two properties met the standards of jurisdictional wetlands as described in Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS), and if the properties could serve as conservation banks for endangered species. NRS was contracted to assess the ecological condition and possible marketability of multiple potential conservation banks located on a Texas Gulf Coast Island. The NRS team conducted a technical (desktop) review and analysis, field surveys, and mapped species and habitat. Additionally, the Project Team provided this assessment of options to potentially meet the client's dual objectives of permanently preserving and conserving the property while generating a near-term revenue stream. Please note that NRS has not provided client-specific information and project cost due to the confidentiality requirements of the contract.
